Sunday 1 November: All Saints’ Day

Fun Day Halloween at Portimão Arena runs again from 10:00 to 19:00 (see above). Not spooky, but also on this weekend: the Sagres Sessions Surf Festival (30 Oct–1 Nov, mostly free) and the Algarve Classic Festival historic car racing at the Algarve circuit in Portimão (30 Oct–1 Nov, tickets from €10), both via Goodtimes Lagos.

Tips for Halloween weekend

  • Getting home: Odiáxere, Luz, Burgau and Portimão are a short Bolt or Uber ride from Lagos, but cars get scarce after midnight on a Saturday. Book early or agree a lift, and don’t drink and drive.
  • Trick-or-treating: door-to-door Halloween isn’t really a thing here. The Portuguese tradition is Pão-por-Deus on the morning of 1 November, when kids go round asking for sweets or bread. Venue parties (and Zest’s village trick-or-treat in Luz) are your best bet on the 31st.
  • 1 November is a public holiday: Dia de Todos os Santos (All Saints’ Day) is a national holiday. In 2026 it falls on a Sunday, so there’s no extra day off, but expect Sunday-style hours.
  • It gets dark early: the clocks went back on 25 October, so bring a torch or something reflective for kids.
  • Find more: last-minute parties pop up in the local Facebook and WhatsApp groups (links below).
